Property News - Green takes on new BCSC role

The BCSC has named ex-Marks & Spencer property executive Michael Green as its first chief executive. The organisation decided earlier this year to create a full-time post to continue to raise its profile and enhance services to its 1,400-strong membership.

Green spent 20 years with M&S, initially in the estates and store development area and laterly in its town centre management programme. He then spent three years at MEPC before started his own consultancy, GTT Associates, in 1997.

Chief executive of Hammerson's and BCSC president John Richards, said: 'The creation of this post and Michael Green's appointment represents the logical next step in the evolution of the organisation at a time when retail property is acknowledged as providing a key role in delivering successful regeneration.'
