Property News - Glasgow Fort bags big-name lets

Pillar Property and Capital & Regional's 500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq m) Glasgow Fort fashion park is now 75 per cent pre-let, following lettings to H Samuel, Jessops and Principles.

The deals confirm the scheme's success in attracting businesses not normally associated with out-of-town retailing.

Earlier signings included Next, Arcadia, Boots, Virgin, Borders, Argos and JJB Sports. The design of the complex, by the US firm Jerde Partnership - which was responsible for Star City in Birmingham - mirrors a traditional high street, with two parallel terraces. The outer terrace comprises units that range from 5,000 sq ft to 25,000 sq ft (465 sq m to 2,325 sq m) in size, while the inner terrace units start at 1,780 sq ft (165 sq m).

Pillar Retail Parks managing director Mark Stirling said Glasgow Fort has helped attract a new generation of retailers. 'We are talking to some very significant retailers, many of whom would not normally consider out-of-town locations of this type,' he said.
