Property News - Dunnes Stores signs as second anchor store at Forge, Glasgow

Irish department store operator Dunnes Stores has signed up as the second anchor for Glasgow's Forge Shopping Centre.

Landlords Resolution Property and Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association are extending the 37,200 sq m centre by 5,150 sq m, which includes a 3,700 sq m unit for Dunnes.

Dunnes Stores plans to open in Autumn, when it will join a retail line-up that includes Asda's largest foodstore in Scotland, River Island, New Look, Bay Trading; Boots, ELC, Barratts, Officers Club, JD Sports, WH Smith and Littlewoods.

Resolution Director Nigel Robson said: 'Securing Dunnes is fantastic news for the centre, which has waited some time for a flagship store to complement and strengthen its existing fashion offer. We are looking to build on this letting, further strengthening the Centre's position within Glasgow's retailing hierarchy'

Dunnes Stores is Ireland's largest retailer with more than 123 stores in Ireland, the UK and Spain. It made its first move into the Scottish market in November 2001, with the acquisition of a store in Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street.
