Property News - Domino's to serve up 50 more UK stores this year

Pizza delivery company Domino's Pizza achieved a record of 59 property acquisitions last year.

The business only crossed the Atlantic in 1991, but now has more than 300 stores in the UK and Ireland, and is on target to grow its portfolio to 500.

Recent additions to the network include Aldershot, Cardiff, Carlow, Derry, Dublin, Leeds, Newton Abbott, West Bromwich, Hinckley, Kidderminster, Northwood Hills and Tonbridge.

Head of property John Cox said the typical Domino's store trades from 1,200 sq ft (110 sq m), with at least 18 ft (5m) of frontage in a high-visibility location.

He added: 'We have experienced a record level of growth this year, one that has been spurred on by an increased consumer demand for high-quality home-delivered pizza.

We plan to continue our programme of ambitious expansion next year, which should help us meet our 2004 target of opening a further 50 stores.'
