Value fashion retailer Primark has signed a deal with Telford Shopping Centre owners Hark Group and Apollo to triple the size of its store in the West Midlands centre as part of the joint landlords’ redevelopment plans.

Primark will extend its existing store by 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) in a works programme due to commence this summer.

The extension is set to be the first in a redevelopment programme at the centre, which will be renamed The Round and will include a new 24-hour open-air walkway spanning the circumference of the building.

The Primark extension is due for completion in spring 2009, and the centre’s wider redevelopment plans are set to be rolled out in phases over the coming years.

The joint developers were represented by Strutt & Parker and DTZ.
