Primark, the value fashion giant, returned to the top spot as the UK’s largest clothing retailer by volume over the summer, ahead of Asda and Marks & Spencer.

In the 12 weeks to August 15, Primark grew its market share by volume to 10.9%, coming in ahead of George at Asda at 10.8%, followed by Marks & Spencer at 10.2%, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel Fashion and leaked to newspapers.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Primark is poised to expand in to the Nordic countries following the appointment of Wolfgang Krogmann as general manager for northern Europe.
