Never far from Sir Stuart Rose’s side during his time as the then chief executive’s executive assistant, M&S lifer Dixon got his reward last year when he was put in charge of the ailing food business after the shock departure of Steven Esom.

Very much a safe pair of hands, Dixon has worked to improve M&S’s price positioning on food with offers like Dine in for £10, and while it’s not out of the woods yet, the signs coming out of the food business are looking more positive.
