Piasecki rethinks Goldsmiths roles

Goldsmiths chief executive Jurek Piasecki plans to run an 'internal diagnostic' on the high street jeweller after the retailer appoints a chief operating officer.

Day-to-day control of Goldsmiths would be ceded to the chief operating officer, whose responsibilities would include HR and training. There would be an opportunity to succeed Piasecki in the future.

Piasecki will assume the role of 'roving consultant' to drive internal efficiencies and strengthen supplier relations as the business expands.

'Do I think all areas of our business are running at maximum efficiency? No, and it would be arrogant to say yes,' he said.
