Ocado Retail’s chief commercial officer has stepped down after less than two years in the role.
Amit Chitnis joined the online supermarket in December 2023, following a 10-year stint at fellow grocer Tesco where he started out as head of group strategy before finishing as UK grocery director.
Ocado’s current director of commercial development, George Dean, has been appointed interim chief commercial officer, The Grocer reported.
According to sources, suppliers were told about Chitnis’ departure by Ocado Retail chief executive, Hannah Gibson, this week.
Gibson said that Dean’s shift to the role of chief commercial officer would “ensure a seamless leadership transition” and brings a host of commercial experience and leadership.
He first joined Ocado in 2019, responsible for its rapid delivery service Zoom.
Ocado is also updating on its half year results tomorrow (July 17), with a predicted revenue of £3.38bn according to IG.
