Notonthehighstreet has appointed HelloFresh’s former UK boss Claire Davenport as its new chief executive as current CEO Barrie Seidenberg steps down for health reasons.

Davenport, who left HelloFresh in December, will take the reins from Seidenberg this month, Retail Week can reveal.

Seidenberg, who has been at the helm of the online marketplace since April 2018, was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year and will be stepping down from the role to focus on her health.

Notonthehighstreet chair Darren Shapland said: “Barrie has led the transformation of the company over the last 15 months and has significantly increased momentum in the business. Through Barrie’s leadership, the business now has a strong foundation for growth, supported by a skilled leadership team, with experienced additions including a new chief technology officer, chief financial officer and chief product officer. The board would like to thank Barrie for her expert leadership, and we wish her our heartfelt best as she focuses on her health.”

Davenport, who is currently acting as an adviser to various private equity and venture capital-backed firms, had senior roles at organisations including Skype, Ofcom and VoucherCodes prior to her appointment at recipe box business HelloFresh in 2017.

Shapland added: “Barrie has worked closely with the Notonthehighstreet team to ensure there is a smooth transition and we are pleased to have appointed Claire Davenport to take the business on to the next stage of its growth.”

Davenport will assume her new role on August 27, while Seidenberg will remain at the online retailer until the end of the month.
