Move of the Week: Williams tasked with maintaining eBay momentum

Eve Williams Ebay

In a desperate week for high street retailers, Eve Williams’ move from Asos to eBay serves as a reminder of how the balance of power has shifted in the industry.

While Topshop and Debenhams have been haemorrhaging cash, Asos and eBay have seen sales and profits surge during the pandemic as consumers turned to online brands they know and trust.

Williams has left her position as Asos global brand director with immediate effect to head up eBay’s UK marketing division where her first task will be to help maintain that recent momentum as social restrictions (hopefully) ease in the new year.
