McColl’s has made new appointments to its executive and non-executive board including Giles David as chief financial officer.

David joins the convenience retail group from Casual Dining Group, where he has helmed the financial division since 2017.

David, who will join McColl’s on June 1, has previously had finance roles at businesses including Wiggle, Brighthouse, O2 and Marks & Spencer.

McColl’s chief executive Jonathan Miller said: “Giles is a highly experienced CFO with a real understanding of customer-facing businesses, and I’m delighted he’s joining McColl’s. This is a very busy time for our business with increased customer demand, as we work hard to serve customers in neighbourhoods across the UK, and we’re really looking forward to having Giles on board and benefiting from his expertise.”

The retailer has also added chief commercial officer Richard Crampton to its board effective from next month, marking the first time that position has existed in McColl’s at a board level. The retailer has also added former chief financial officer of businesses including Game and Harrods, Benedict Smith, as a non-executive director, effective from July 1.

McColl’s chair Angus Porter said: “I am delighted to welcome Giles, Richard and Benedict to the Board of McColl’s. Giles brings with him strong financial stewardship, Richard’s is a well-deserved appointment having already made a significant contribution to the business, and Benedict has in-depth retail industry knowledge and expertise that we will greatly benefit from.”
