Majestic Wine has appointed Charles Tyrwhitt chief executive and former Direct Wines boss Greg Hodder as non-executive director.
Hodder joins the board today and Majestic wines said his experience in multi-channel retailing in particular “will provide additional insight to the Group” as it aims to restore its sparkle.
Majestic Wines’ new boss Rowan Gormley is aiming to revitalise the business following a period of lacklustre sales as supermarket competition intensifies.
The retailer earlier this year acquired etailer Naked Wines, which Gormley led before assuming the role of chief executive at group level.
Hodder has led Charles Tyrwhitt since 2008. Prior to this he was chief executive of Direct Wines for 14 years.
Gormley said: “We are delighted to have secured such an experienced and highly-recommended appointment to the Board. Greg’s past experience will provide us with additional high-level strategic and operational support as we grow the business.”
Majestic Wines said Hodder’s “extensive senior management experience” will further support the Board “as the company moves forward to the next stage of its strategic development”.
