Holland & Barrett has hired Vision Express’ UK and Ireland managing director in an executive role, Retail Week can reveal.
Steve Worboys will join the health and wellness retailer as chief operating officer in March.
Worboys took on the role of managing director of Vision Express in January 2025, following four years as retail director at the same firm.
He brings over 20 years of retail experience to his new role at Holland & Barrett, including roles at Lloydspharmacy and Argos.
His time at Vision Express saw him become part of a leadership team that helped drive a successful transformation as it integrated into the EssilorLuxottica group, which owns brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley and Sunglass Hut.
The news arrives after Retail Week reported that Holland & Barrett was undergoing a leadership reshuffle in September 2025, when it first announced it was looking for a new chief operating officer.
The past few months have seen Anthony Houghton take on the role of group chief executive following his stint as the CEO of UK and Ireland, as well as a new chief commercial officer, chief strategy officer and chief digital officer.
