Home shopping group Findel has appointed Roger Siddle as its chief executive with immediate effect.

Siddle was most recently chief executive of training and education company BPP, until July 2009. He has spent the last four months advising Findel.

Siddle succeeds Philip Maudsley, who becomes managing director of Findel’s Home Shopping business. Maudsley and remain a member of Findel’s Board.

Siddle is also a former managing partner of consulting firm Bain & Company.

Findel chairman David Sugden said: “The Board is delighted to welcome Roger Siddle as chief executive and we look forward to working with him to take the business forward.

“Roger has been working with us on the Group’s Full Potential Review in recent months, during which time he has acquired an intimate knowledge and understanding of the Group’s businesses. His decision to take on the position is testament to our collective belief in the potential for the Group.

“We would like to thank Philip Maudsley for his contribution in leading the Group as chief executive over the past year, during what has been an extremely challenging time for Findel.”

Last month Findel sold its loss- making arm CWIO to The Hut Group to help reduce its debt. It comprised gifts etailer I Want One of Those and wedding specialist site Confetti, which The Hut then placed into administration less than a week later.

The sale was part of Findel’s ongoing strategy to exit loss making and non-core parts of the business after full year losses for the group increased to £76.1m from £57.4m the year before.
