Several retailers have been included in the king’s birthday honours list, which was announced on Friday.
Charlotte Tilbury, founder and chief creative officer of the eponymous beauty brand, was made a CBE for services to the beauty and cosmetics industry.
Also receiving an honour last week was John Boumphrey, Amazon UK and Ireland boss, who was made an OBE for services to the technology, consumer and digital commerce industry. Boumphrey took the top UK job at the dominant online retailer in 2020, having first joined the firm as director of media in the UK.
He recently made headlines for saying that young people should not be blamed for being out of work, calling for mandatory work experience for over-16s.
Also receiving an OBE was ex-Dunelm chief executive Nick Wilkinson for services to the retail sector. Wilkinson left Dunelm last year after steering the business through the Covid-19 pandemic and capped his tenure with a number of milestones including the company’s first stores in London and outside the UK.
Within fashion, Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi was made an OBE, as were Kurt Geiger chief executive Neil Clifford and Me + Em boss Clare Hornby.
Trotters Childrenswear and Accessories founder and creative director Sophie Ross received an OBE for services to business and to the retail industry.
