Carpetright chief executive Wilf Walsh has been promoted to the role of chairman at his firm’s parent company.

After seven years at the helm of the carpet and flooring specialist, Walsh will take on a wider remit as chair of Nestware, a Meditor subsidiary.

In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing Carpetright, Flooring Supplies, Flooring Megastore Carpet & Flooring and any future acquisitions.

During his tenure, Walsh has led Carpetright through turnaround strategies including a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to restructure its portfolio and the sale of the retailer to Meditor.

Walsh will continue on as Carpetright’s chief executive until a suitable successor has been found.

Nestware also announced the acquisition of Carpet & Flooring, one of the UK’s largest distributors of floor-covering products and accessories, which will be a part of Walsh’s new remit.

This is the third recent addition for Nestware, following the acquisition of FlooringSupplies.co.uk in September 2020 and the purchase of the business and assets of Contemporary Trade Flooring and Flooring Megastore, which completed earlier this year.
