Boots has snapped up Dixons Carphone’s longstanding chief commercial officer Steve Ager, Retail Week can reveal.

Ager will join the health and beauty retailer in June as commercial director for the UK and Ireland.

His appointment comes after nearly 12 years at Dixons Carphone, which he joined in 2008.

In his new role, Ager will report to fellow Dixons Carphone alum Seb James, who has been managing director for Boots since 2018, and Walgreens Boots Alliance chief commercial officer Annie Murphy.

Prior to his role at Dixons Carphone, Ager previously held commercial roles at Tesco and Keymarkets.

He will succeed current Boots trading director David Hobbs, who will move into the role of transformation director.

James said: “I am delighted that Steve is joining my executive team at Boots. He has a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the UK and global retail industry.”

Ager is being succeeded at Dixons Carphone by former John Lewis Partnership executive Ed Connolly.
