Online retailer Asos has promoted four of its senior executives to newly created retail director roles.

Asos trading director Maria Hollins has been promoted to retail director, leading the merchandising, design, sourcing and production across both men’s and women’s product.

Hollins, who began as trading director at the online retailer two years ago, has been promoted “following consistently positive retail performance over the last financial year, led by a focused direction of product and pricing strategies”.

In addition, menswear fashion director Stefan Pesticcio has been promoted retail director for menswear and merchandise director Nick Loveday has been elevated to retail director for womenswear. Both will continue to report into Hollins.

Buying, merchandising and design will be aligned for the first time under these newly created positions.

Meanwhile, former head of merchandising for womenswear Louise Jenkins-Yates has been promoted to the newly created role of retail director for outlet, after returning from maternity leave.

The promotions come after Asos hired former head of outdoor buying at Blacks and Millets Simon Platts as its sourcing director earlier this month, as revealed by Retail-week.com.

Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: These promotions are perfect examples of what it looks like to reward success.

“Wherever possible, we like to foster internal talent and promote from within. We look forward to continuing to build upon the strength of our recent trading performance, and the existing retail teams who have delivered it, under Maria Hollins, Stefan Pesticcio and Nick Loveday. Outlet is a big growth opportunity area and we welcome Louise Jenkins-Yates back to spearhead it.”
