Pearsons to up fashion range in store extension

London department store group Pearsons is to add a 5,000 sq ft (465 sq m) extension to its Enfield Town store, enabling the retailer to expand its fashion offer significantly.

The 100-year-old retailer plans to capitalise on the redevelopment of the adjacent former Millets store - which is being rebuilt as part of a new shopping centre complex - and extend its first floor onto the roof space.

Merchandise director David Howard said the retailer would 'look to do more fashion.' It has already expanded young fashion in the 60,000 sq ft (5,575 sq m) store this year, with Miss Selfridge and Bay Trading concessions.

Howard said that work on the project is expected to start next year.
