Hundreds of incidents are reported
Oxford Street tops a police list of the most dangerous troublespots in London, with a total of 258 violent offences reported last year.

The peak of violence on the street occurs in the afternoon, when pavements are packed with shoppers and office workers, according to London newspaper the Evening Standard.

This contrasts with other hotspots for violence in the capital, where violence peaks in the early hours of the morning as drinkers are kicked out of pubs.

The information was revealed in a report by the Westminster Crime and Intelligence Unit of the Metropolitan Police, according to the newspaper.

About half of the 7,000 crimes included in the report were minor assaults, where no injury occurred.
