Etailer and online service provider The Hut said that Christmas orders soared 188% in the six weeks to December 23.

The group said it also saw a marked increase in international sales with international revenues up 240% for the period.

The Hut acquired Zavvi.com in March last year and offers white label services to retailers including Asda, Woolworths, Argos, Tesco and WHSmith.

The Hut commercial director Richard Chapple said: “We are extremely happy with these results which reflect a year of continued growth and development for The Hut Group. We are committed to delivering a market leading proposition for the consumer, focusing on both excellent value and service. We are particularly pleased with the results in the face of what has been a difficult economic climate across Europe, and we hope to be able to build on this performance through 2010.”
