Land of Leather has reported a further slump in sales over the critical January period.

The sofa specialist disclosed that trading remains “unchanged” since January 4, when it told investors that sales were significantly below forecasts.

Total sales order intake for the 23 days from January 4 to January 27 wasdown 6.3 per cent and like-for-like sales orders fell 15.4 per cent. That compared with a like-for-like sales orders slump of 4.6 per cent in the previous year.

In the 13 weeks to January 27 total sales order intake was down 11.9 per cent and like-for-like sales orders were down 21.8 per cent, against 4.6 per cent the previous year.

Land of Leather will report half-year results on March 27.
