Created by Kewill, the Web Forms system will allow smaller local suppliers to communicate with the symbol retailer using the internet without having to invest in special systems.
Nisa Today’s local sourcing manager Steve Hodson said the company started its local sourcing project in February, aiming to get local and regional suppliers to supply goods direct to stores. It now has 40 suppliers on board and plans to recruit up to 400.
Nisa-Today’s negotiates group pricing with each supplier to get better terms for its retailers. All invoicing is done centrally.
Nisa Today’s head of IT David Morris said the web system was designed for ease of use by local suppliers, which may not have the facilities to use a full electronic trading system (EDI). However, the transaction messages arrive at Nisa-Today’s in the same way as if suppliers were using EDI. The system will be live by late summer.
