New PowerHouse will pick up its predecessor's bill

Electricals retailer New PowerHouse will spend more than£2 million honouring warranties and delivering goods paid for by customers of PowerHouse, its failed predecessor that went into receivership in August.

New PowerHouse - owned by Pacific Retail Group - hopes the investment will placate and retain more than 200,000 customers. The retailer was under no legal obligation to honour the agreements.

Chief executive Peter Halkett has publicised the retailer's commitment by appearing personally in national newspaper advertisements.

In a statement, the retailer said that goods already paid for will be delivered within two weeks.

New PowerHouse is also 'working to encourage' the firms managing Easycare and Extracare extended warranty schemes to honour them, and 35,000 warranty queries have already been resolved.
