Former Lloydspharmacy boss joins department store
Michael Ward has been appointed as the new managing director for Knightsbridge department store group Harrods. The former Lloydspharmacy chief executive will take up his position on March 20.

Ward joins Harrods from private equity firm Apax, where he was a partner in the retail and consumer practice division from January 2004.

He was chief executive of UK pharmacy chain Lloydspharmacy when it was acquired by Gehe UK, having also held the group finance director and group managing director roles.

'Michael joins Harrods at an important time, when it is consistently out-performing the competition and setting new standards,' said Harrods chairman Mohamed Al Fayed. 'I am sure that his great retail experience combined with my vision will build upon this success and elevate my world-famous brand to even greater heights.'
