Trial store declared a success
Value fashion retailer New Look has signed a Middle East franchise agreement with Landmark, one of the largest retail groups in the Middle East and India, following the success of a trial store in Dubai.

The retailer will open 40 stores over the next five years in the region, covering United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Jordan.

The size and shopfit of the outlets will reflect the latest UK store roll-out and typically be between 15,000 and 20,000 sq ft (1,395 sq m and 1,860 sq m). The majority of shops will carry the full New Look product offer and the first two will open in Kuwait in April and Saudi Arabia in September.

New Look is understood to have hired accountancy firm Ernst and Young to assist it in drawing up an international expansion strategy.

New Look marketing, operations and international managing director Carl McPhail said: 'We believe that there is strong demand across the Middle East for New Look's exciting and fashionable offerings at great value, and that such demand will support the roll-out of 40 stores over the next five years.'
