New Look ecommerce director Dom McBrien is to leave the retailer and join Marks & Spencer.
McBrien will join the M&S team, led by executive director Laura Wade-Gery, as multichannel trading director as the retailer bids to increase multichannel sales to between £800m and £1bn by 2013/14.
It is another blow for New Look, which has suffered a string of senior departures since founder Tom Singh was drafted back into the business in March.
Group marketing director Joe Irons jumped ship to join Monsoon Accessorize in August, while chief marketing offer Nick Cross left in May, after less than six months.
An M&S spokswoman confirmed the appointment but said McBrien’s starting date has not yet been decided. She said that his skills would complement those of the existing multichannel team including David Walmsley, who has become multichannel development director, and Susan Aubrey-Cound, new channel development director.
McBrien has played a key part in improving New Look’s multichannel business. Most recently (Retail Week, September 23) he unveiled plans to launch click-and-collect in New Look’s 600 stores this month.
At M&S McBrien will be responsible for day-to-day multichannel operations while Walmsley is focusing on the development of a new platform as the retailer prepares to move off the Amazon platform it uses at present and launch a bricks-and-clicks international expansion programme.
