Nelson returns to Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's has drafted in Stephen Nelson as trading director and member of the Supermarkets board.

Nelson, 40, will oversee all aspects of the grocer's trading. In addition to fresh, convenient and ambient food, drink and general merchandise, Nelson will be responsible for quality, innovation and procurement.

He has rejoined Sainsbury's after seven years at drinks firm Diageo, where he was most recently president (North America) Southwest. Prior to that, he held several trading positions at Sainsbury's.

Managing director Stuart Mitchell said: 'I'm delighted that Stephen is coming back to Sainsbury's, and bringing with him a wealth of broad trading experience.'
