Naafi profits hit 10-year high

Forces' favourite Naafi has unveiled its highest profits for 10 years, boosted by strong performance from Iraq stores.

Shops in strife-torn Iraq generated sales of£8.2 million and contributed significantly to a 15 per cent surge in profits to£7.5 million. Group sales were up£260.4 million.

Naafi delivers product to troops in Iraq via seven countries and 10 routes, because of hostility in the country.

Naafi chief executive Chris Reilly said: 'We've worked hard to overcome difficulties operating in Iraq and have significantly increased our support for troops stationed there by opening six outlets over the year. Naafi's presence is essential in supplying troops with familiar products such as Marmite and Irn Bru, while they are serving away from home.'
