Home shopping performs strongly
N Brown is set to unveil sales at its core home-shopping business up 9.4 per cent in an AGM trading statement later today.

Total group turnover for the 20 weeks to July 15 has increased 7.9 per cent, compared with last year.

The group said there had been improvements in all key customer and product groups, but warned that comparatives would get increasingly demanding as the year goes on and the retailer comes up against strong results last year.

Earlier this month, N Brown bought catalogue clothing retailer Gray and Osbourn for£8.25 million as part of its strategy to expand the number of upmarket brands it operates.

Seymour Pierce analyst Richard Ratner said: 'N Brown is carefully and successfully developing itself as a multichannel home-shopping operator, as well as moving its offer upmarket.'
