Multi Development UK today unveiled an artist’s impression of the iconic building that will form the focal point of Wolverhampton’s £300 million Summer Row development.

The three-storey building, designed by Dutch architect Van Heerden & Partners, will be located at the corner of Cleveland Street and Snow Hill. It will incorporate two levels of retail with leisure above, including a cinema.

Head architect Cle van Heerden said: “Our design for Summer Row is by far the furthest we’ve ever gone in proposing something different, with its gentle elegant curves and its inviting appearance.”

Multi has submitted a reserved matters planning application to the city council for the striking building, which it hopes will become a landmark on the city’s skyline. It has also submitted another application for the landscaping proposals of the scheme, including type and colour of the proposed materials.

Summer Row is a 600,000 sq ft development providing a mix of shops, restaurants and apartments. More than 85 shops will be created, including two medium-sized units. The developer is awaiting the result of the compulsory purchase order, expected in early 2008. It is forecast to open in autumn 2010.
