High-end fashion retailer to continue overseas expansion
Like-for-like sales at Mulberry stores grew in the run-up to Christmas, as it announced a further expansion in Asia.

The international fashion retailer reported that its like-for-like sales for the five weeks to January 1 increased by 15 per cent. The retailer has also revealed plans to open shops in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in the next six months. The move follows a beachhead store opened in Hong Kong last October and another in Singapore in December.

Chairman and chief executive Godfrey Davis said: 'Our customers have responded well to our strategy of investing in design to develop great products. Orders for our core leather goods, and women's handbags in particular, have continued to grow strongly. Our own shops have experienced sustained growth and a strong Christmas.'

Mulberry has 14 stores in the UK and mainland Europe. It also sells through retailers in Europe, the US and Japan, stocking high-end womenswear, menswear and accessories. The latter makes up 70 per cent of the retailer's sales.
