Safeway fascia disappears
Supermarket Morrisons' conversion of all former Safeway stores into its format will conclude tomorrow.

The most extensive retail conversion exercise ever undertaken in the UK comes to an end as the last remaining outlets at Stevenston, Camden, Clevedon and Rubery re-open as Morrisons.

The UK's fourth-largest supermarket will be trading as one group under the Morrisons banner after converting and refurbishing more than 200 stores. There are now more than 360 Morrisons stores trading across the UK.

Morrisons chief executive Bob Stott said: 'The converted stores are seeing large increases in customer numbers, underlining the strength of our offer in terms of choice, quality, value and service. The completion of the conversion programme in this timescale is a tremendous achievement and our team can be proud of how we have worked together to deliver the most ambitious store conversion programme ever undertaken in this country. This is a significant landmark in the history of Morrisons.'
