Brand loyalty cited as fashion retailer bucks the Christmas gloom
Monsoon has increased its pre-tax profit for the six months to November 27 by 32 per cent. The fashion retailer's interim results were underscored by strong Christmas trading, which bucked the trend. In the eight weeks to January 8, the retailer increased like-for-like sales by 13 per cent.

Monsoon chairman Peter Simon attributed the gains to outstanding brand loyalty and staff commitment.

He said: 'These record half-year results are due to our customer's loyalty and support and especially to [all] members of the company.'

Turnover of the half year increased from£131 million for the same period a year ago, to£169.38 million, an increase of 29 per cent. Like-for-like sales were up 10 per cent.
