Designed by Leicestershire design consultancy Briggs Hillier, the 2,000 sq ft (185 sq m) shop features an open front, gloss finishes on the centre-floor equipment and reclaimed oak, which is used to define the entrance and back wall behind the cash desk.
Briggs Hillier creative director Adrian Briggs said: “As a new retailer, budget was a major consideration, so we had to make things appear top-end without spending a lot.”
This has been achieved at the back of the shop by creating a curved wall made out of chainmail for formalwear, an element that has also been used in the window scheme.
Previously, Ministry traded as Ministry of Design, but Briggs said that the decision had been taken to shorten it because the name was felt to be too similar to London club Ministry of Sound. If the Westfield store is successful, plans are in place to expand the fit-out to 10 to 15 more outlets.
