MFI moves towards better category management with two new ops roles

MFI is reinforcing the switch to B&Q-style category management by creating two operations manager posts to support category heads.

Gordon MacDonald has overall responsibility for both categories, with kitchens - accounting for more than half of sales - assigned to Bob Wilson.

The recruits will be required to manage sourcing for beds and bedrooms, living and home.

The group is now organised by product categories and routes to market, rather than by functions. The change is meant to speed up product design, which has long lead times and has been at the root of recent trading woes.
