German competition commission approves Wal-Mart acquisition
The Federal Competition Authority in Germany has approved food retail group Metro's purchase of Wal-Mart's 85 stores in the country.

Wal-Mart's decision to exit the German market was revealed in July, but the deal with Metro was subject to a ruling from the commission.

Metro intends to convert some of the stores to its Real fascia, but the final number has yet to be confirmed. The first converted store is expected to trade under the Real name before Christmas, while the integration of all stores earmarked for the fascia will be complete by the middle of next year.

There two businesses' headquarters will also be combined, according to Metro.
