eBay UK has announced the opening of a first-of-its-kind pop-up shop, where people can swap their previously used or unworn trainers for a pair they will actually wear.

The Swap ‘Em Out store will open in London’s Soho on March 25 as a ticketed event. The public can apply online for a chance to exchange their trainers for a different pair of a higher value.

Some attendees will have their trainers exchanged for a ‘Top Swap’, where they have the chance to get their hands on shoes such as Nike Off-White x Air Jordan 1 Euro – worth approximately £4,300.

Trainers that have been brought in by the public will be checked and cleaned by eBay before being uploaded to the Swap ‘Em Out edit. Those who were unable to attend the store will have the opportunity to get their hands on these trainers.

eBay UK sneaker category manager Wahaaj Shabbir said: “Swapping has always been intrinsic to us sneakerheads. In these tough times, where the cost of living is making it harder to buy your next pair, we wanted to offer a solution which feels right to the community.

“We’re all about getting sneakers back on feet and hope that by encouraging people to swap and sell, we’ll keep sneakers flowing to people who truly love them.

“By opening up the Swap ‘Em Out store, people will be able to bring in those sneakers that don’t get enough love any more, and we’ll swap them for a pair they’ll wear.”

The funds raised from the Swap ‘Em Out edit will be going towards the DEC Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal.
