Plans have been submitted to transform the centre of Macclesfield, Cheshire, with a major mixed-use scheme.

Wilson Bowden Developments has put in the application to Macclesfield borough council for a 500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq m) mixed-use scheme that will include an 80,000 sq ft (7,430 sq m) Debenhams store and 50 other smaller units for retail, catering and leisure, as well as a 1,200 space multi-storey car park and 55 residential units.

The project is now being considered, with a decision likely to be reached next spring.
