Frasers Group has acquired shares in Burberry as the retail giant continues its pursuit of luxury brands.

The group disclosed on Tuesday (July 28) that it holds an interest worth 4.2% of the voting rights in Burberry through the sale of put options.
If exercised, this would make Frasers one of the British luxury brand’s top 10 largest investors.
The Flannels and Sports Direct owner is currently engaged in a takeover attempt of German fashion brand Hugo Boss, of which it owns 30.28% and is its largest shareholder.
Frasers revealed that its takeover offer for Hugo Boss had become unconditional after receiving clearance from the European Commission.
The group submitted a voluntary €38 per share cash offer, worth £1.73bn, for Hugo Boss in June. Shareholders have until August 13 to accept the offer.
Frasers is also the second-largest shareholder in Mulberry Group and previously attempted a takeover of the handbag maker in 2024.
