London’s first designer outlet centre started marketing its units to the retail sector this week.

The London Designer Outlet, which is expected to open for business in late 2013, is located next to Wembley Stadium and Arena in north London.

The proposed mixed development will cover 350,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space and incorporate 85 retail units.

Developer Quintain said that, when in operation, it will be the closest factory outlet for 5.8 million people - the highest catchment of any UK outlet centre.

Construction work on the site will begin next autumn.

The shopping centre is part of the £3.8bn Wembley City regeneration programme, which includes the transformation of 87 acres of land surrounding Wembley Stadium and Arena. Investors include the London Borough of Brent and the London Development Agency.
