Sales rise 1.5 per cent despite challenging trading
Men's fashion group Moss Bros has reported a 1.5 per cent rise in like-for-like sales for the first 16 weeks of the year.

Seymour Pierce analyst Richard Ratner said: 'This compares to a 2 per cent rise after 10 weeks, which would indicate that sales have slowed a touch over the past few weeks.'

The retailer's pre-tax profit was£6.7 million for the year to January 28, up from£5.7 million last year. Like-for-like sales rose 2.5 per cent for the period, marking the third consecutive year of like-for-like growth.

In a statement ahead of today's AGM, chairman Keith Hamill said trading conditions 'remain challenging'.

The Moss Bros group includes eponymous stores, the Cecil Gee fascia and 13 Hugo Boss shops.
