City centre shops will open until 8pm six nights a week
From tonight, Manchester city centre retailers will become the first to open late en mass, six nights a week.
A total of 120 retailers, including stores in the Arndale Centre, have committed to opening until 8pm Monday to Saturday. The Manchester City Centre Management Company has also secured the co-operation of public transport operators, theatres, restaurants, hotels and police.
Manchester Arndale general manager Glen Barkworth said: 'The Arndale was one of the first to sign up to late-night shopping, thanks to the overwhelming support from our retailers. What's more, with 90 per cent of retailers on Market Street - the second busiest street in the UK - supporting late night shopping, there is significant support in the city's shopping core.'
