Developer Land Securities has submitted plans to build a mixed-use scheme in Corby, which would bring 330,185 sq ft (30,675 sq m) of retail space to the town.

The Evolution Corby scheme would be Land Securities’ second phase of development in Corby. Its first phase, costing£35 million, opened in October last year.

The first scheme, Willow Place, covers 175,000 sq ft (16,260 sq m) and is anchored by TK Maxx. Other retailers at the scheme include New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Evans, River Island and Jane Norman.

The plans for Evolution Corby include space for 29 retail units and a 120,000 sq ft (11,150 sq m) anchor store.

Land Securities development manager in the retail team Mark Rymell said: “The strength of the retail offer secured for Willow Place demonstrates the high levels of retailer demand for representation in the region.”

Construction on Evolution Corby could start as soon as 2010 and be complete by 2012.
