Valley Park closing campaign found to be misleading
Land of Leather has been rapped for using misleading adverts as it attempted to sell stock at its closing Valley Park site in Croydon.

The retailer launched a regional press campaign during February advertising suites from£399. An undisclosed complainant told the Advertising Standards Authority that they tried unsuccessfully to buy the furniture illustrated in the advert several times at the price quoted.

The ASA upheld the complaint on the grounds that although the advert said pictures were for illustration purposes, regulations state that products pictured in an advert must match the prices quoted. It concluded that the advertisement was misleading and warned Land of Leather not to repeat the approach in any future campaigns.
