Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex is to spend£400,000 on security improvements.
The cash will be used to upgrade CCTV systems as part of the£25 million refurb of the centre, which is expected to be finished in spring next year.
Following the improvements, there will be a total of more than 250 digital cameras in the malls and car parks, providing 24-hour coverage.
Lakeside services manager Mike Redfearn said safety is the 'number one priority' at the centre, which is visited by more than 24 million people a year.
