Kitchens, bathroom and bedroom sales made up for weak seasonal sales
Kingfisher's group sales received a boost in the third financial quarter ending October 30, rising 8.2 per cent to£1.94 billion. Like-for-like sales increased by 2.6 per cent. Rretail profit for the group was up 6.7 per cent to£190 million compared with the same period last year.

UK sales, from B&Q and Screwfix Direct, increased by 4.3 per cent to£1.05 billion, with a like-for-like rise of 0.8 per cent. Retail profit in the UK was up 0.5 per cent to£95.9 million for the quarter, compared with the same period a year ago.

Kingfisher said the results are in the face of weakening consumer demand, with seasonal ranges such as garden furniture suffering. However, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms delivered strong sales over the quarter

Kingfisher chief executive Gerry Murphy said: 'Kingfisher has delivered sales and profit growth in a tougher quarter in the UK and France, with slowing growth in consumer spending and more promotional and price competition in these key markets.'
