Gateshead mall hosts first standalone store for the French footwear retailer
French footwear brand Kickers has opened its first UK standalone store at the MetroCentre in Gateshead, as part of the final phase of the Red Mall extension. The store carries Kickers' full range of branded shoes, clothing and accessories.

Following the opening of the new Red Mall in October, landlord Capital Shopping Centres has remodelled the area around the atrium to create six new stores, ranging in size from 1,600 sq ft to 2,300 sq ft (150 sq m to 215 sq m). Other new arrivals include Dune and Coast, and the fourth unit is under offer to DVD retailer Silverscreen.

On the upper mall, units have been let to Starbucks and Jack 'n' Jones, while two kiosk units are under offer to Perfume Shop and Tie Rack.

The next stage of the MetroCentre refreshment programme is now under way and involves an£8 million retiling scheme in the Town Square and the Green and Central Malls, continuing the limestone floor throughout the areas. The work will be completed by Christmas.
