Comet shows spark of improvement
Europe's third-largest electricals retailer Kesa has revealed sales improvements across all divisions in its first-quarter results published today.

Sales for the three months ending April 30 were up 6.5 per cent to£922.7 million. Turnover at Comet rose 2.8 per cent on a like-for-like basis. Sales at Darty, the group's largest brand in France, were up 4.7 per cent like for like.

Chief executive Jean-Noel Labroue said the forthcoming World Cup was continuing to boost sales of flat-screen televisions, but demand for white good sales continued to be weak, particularly in the UK.
